In a major military development, India launched precision airstrikes on 07 May 2025, targeting terror camps located in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) and across Pakistan. The action was carried out in response to the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 28 civilians, mostly Hindu tourists.

The Indian Armed Forces executed Operation Sindoor, a coordinated strike involving the Indian Army, The Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. According to official sources, the operation targeted and destroyed major terror infrastructure in PoJK, specifically in areas such as Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Bhimber, along with other locations in Pakistan including Bahawalpur and Sialkot.

One of the key targets of the operation was the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters, Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, which is confirmed to be a major terrorist training and operational base. Indian officials emphasized that the airstrikes were carried out with precision and restraint, ensuring that no innocent civilians were harmed during the operation. The focus remained strictly on eliminating terrorist infrastructure.

In response, Pakistan denounced the Indian strikes as an “act of war” and launched retaliatory attacks along the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistani forces reportedly targeted civilian areas in Poonch, Uri, Kupwara and over a dozen other locations, using missiles and heavy artillery.

Indian authorities confirmed that Pakistan’s retaliation resulted in injuries to civilians and significant damage to residential area’s and public infrastructure. These attacks have drawn widespread condemnation with Indian leaders and citizens accusing Pakistan of deliberately targeting local populations—including women and children—due to its inability to directly confront the Indian Armed forces.

Despite the provocation, locals across Jammu & Kashmir have shown extraordinary patriotism and resilience. Communities are standing shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army, offering support, coordinating aid, and refusing to bow to fear. Citizens of all faiths, including Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs, have united in defiance of Pakistan's aggression. Many local Muslims have publicly rejected Pakistan’s narrative, stating that Pakistan’s actions do not represent them or their religion and condemn its targeting of innocent people regardless of faith.

Observers note that Pakistan's attacks did not spare Muslims or Hindus, indiscriminately harming both. These actions, locals say, prove that Pakistan’s aggression has no religious sympathy, even for Muslims which they  claiming every now and then and instead focuses on sowing fear and chaos among all communities. This latest confrontation marks the most intense military exchange between India and Pakistan since the 2019 Balakot airstrikes, pushing the region to the brink. India maintains that its actions were pre-emptive and limited to counterterrorism objectives while Pakistan’s indiscriminate retaliation has raised global concern over civilian safety and regional stability.

With tensions escalating and both nations on high alert, the situation remains volatile. The international community is closely monitoring developments, urging both sides to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomacy to avoid further bloodshed in one of the world's most sensitive regions.
